I stumbled across my first minimalism movement website some time in 2013. I was Google’n “lightweight travel clothing” and happened upon a ZenHabits post by Leo Babauta. He was setting off on a business trip of his own to Asia and was sharing his travel adventure lessons with his readers (that is where I discovered Lululemon Athletica apparel!). Anyway, I quickly became a huge fan of his life story, essays, and even the simple aesthetics of his website… it spoke to me. I had been searching for a way de-clutter, simplify, and begin living the life I felt I was placed here to live. My own!
It was about then that I hatched my “escape plan” to start downsizing the non-essentials in my life. It was a slow-go at first, has had it’s ups and downs, even some minor setbacks. But I remain bound and determined to take my life back. I just need to get rid of a few things along the way. Like the saying goes “the best things in life aren’t things.”
What “things” do you imagine you could get rid of right now? What are you waiting for?
